Attorney Rick Cofer and the Dedication to the Legal and Health Needs of His Community

Whether it be legal assistance or disease prevention, Rick Cofer is dedicated to helping those who need it the most. His law firm, which is based in Austin, Texas, provides defense services for those charged with some of the most serious offenses. He also serves on the board of directors of Kind Clinic, which provides for the health needs of the same community, with a particular emphasis on the prevention and treatment of HIV.

An acronym for knowledge, inclusion, nurture and dedication, Kind offers health services to the full spectrum of the community and without regard to gender, race or sexual orientation. Patients receive a wide variety of health services, including medications that are specifically geared to dealing with HIV. One type of drug, known as PrEP, is designed to protect those considered most at risk from contracting the disease. The other medication is PEP, which is designed to prevent infections in those who have been exposed to the virus.

Opened in 2015, the clinic continues to strive for the goal of eliminating the HIV threat in the Austin area. The Austin Chronicle newspaper honored the clinic with a Most Innovative Medical Care award in 2017. In addition to its state-of-the-art services, the clinic is known for providing assistance to patients with specialized needs. Kind was in fact the first clinic in the area that specifically serves the transgender community. Its concern for low-income patients is noteworthy when considering that many other facilities that provide similar services are operated by religious groups, which can lead to discriminatory policies in the care of certain patients.

Originally from Plano, Texas, Rick attended the University of Texas, in Austin, and opened his law practice in 2008. He served as a defense attorney before working as an assistant county attorney and assistant district attorney for Travis County, which encompasses the Texas capital. Returning in 2018 to the field of public defense, he provides assistance to defendants charged with such offenses as murder, assault and sex crimes. His office is also a major sponsor of the Kind Clinic.

In addition to serving the legal and health needs of his community, Cofer is committed to protecting the environment. This dedication to environmental issues has led to his support for the banning of single-use plastic bags. Visit know more about Rick Cofer visit

The Best Part Of Laidlaw & Company Is Their Brokers

I did get to talk to Matthew Eitner about my finances, but he wanted me to just get an idea of what they do before he sent me to a broker. I do not have just one broker because I have been able to chat with and get help from all of these people. It felt really nice to get the help that I needed when I called, and I have been calling back for a couple years because I knew that I needed to find people that would be able to help me. I have been very lucky, and all the people know me by name.

It is nice to do business like this because I feel like I am in a place where I can always get personal service. Even someone new at the office learned who I was quickly. It was just a nice feeling to feel appreciated, and then you feel like you are a part of the Laidlaw & Company family. It is much easier for people to get the help that they need when they know that they can just call into the office like I do. It feels really nice to have these kinds of options.

The other things that I really like is that I have people all thinking of me like James Ahern! I have had more than one broker call in to check on me and see if there was a new investment I wanted to try. These are not even sales calls because they are so benign. It is very easy to get more work done when you have good people helping you, and I feel special because they do actually think of me. I am very thankful for all the people at Laidlaw & Company and how attentive they are to my needs.
